KAHOLEE, a 1960 Pearson Triton, built in Rhode Island by Pearson, hull number is 158 and she is, as of this writing, 46 years old. Her name, it is pronounced Kô-hä'-lē using dictionary syntax, or, which may be easier to figure out, Ca-hah'-lee. It is a composite of one of the previous owners wife, and daughters names, KAthy, HOlly and LEE.
The Adventure Begins Today, April 20th 2006 marks the beginning of the one year countdown to KAHOLEE's departure from the upper Chesapeake Bay for Key West, where she will be home ported for her exploration of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. KAHOLEE departed New Mexico on April 21st, 2006 for Maine to begin restoration work which will include a completely redesigned interior, new bow and stern pulpits, roller furling, and Monitor self-steering, as well as an upgraded electronics package including radar and chart plotter. She is also scheduled to have her Atomic 4 replaced with a Beta Marine diesel engine. April 29th KAHOLEE is now parked next to Tim Lackey's boat barn in Maine. We have spent the last few days since her arrival on April 26th going over planned modifications and meeting with some of the local shops who will be providing components. Details on our travels will be uploaded shortly, so stay tuned. May 8th KAHOLEE has now been squeezed inside the boat house with only an inch to spare, literally. Work will soon be underway beginning with removal of all deck hardware and inspection of the deck and deck core.
